For the past two decades scientists at the Department of Native Hawaiian Health at the University of Hawaiʻi’s medical school have collaborated with kumu hula, and Hawaiian communities across the pae’āina to understand and facilitate health improvements by incorporating hula to address chronic health conditions such as high blood pressure and heart disease.

The Hula and Health Webinar: Ola Hou I ka Hula: 20 years of hula and health research, was on Monday, April 14, 2025 at 10am Hawaiʻi Time. It featured guest speakers Mele A. Look, Kumu Hula Māpuana de Silva, and Ursula Tuzon.
